The sick bug has hit us

**Do not read this if you are eating or have a sensitive stomach!**

After dinner last night, I started feeling REALLY bad. The stomach cramps began and other things happened. I was up and down all night long. I crashed on the couch as not to wake up the whole family. Around 5am, I hear Matt's voice talking to Carleigh. Apparently she threw up and he was cleaning things up. I couldn't help him because I was in so much pain and was running to the bathroom.

The majority of the day went ok although my mommy antennae was up when Carleigh wasn't eating well and acting strange. Then, this evening, it went from bad to worse. My stomach as still killing me and I had no energy. Well, Carleigh got up into my lap, burped and had this strange look on her face. I thought, oh no, is she going to throw up? Then, I couldn't react quick enough and she started vomitting all over me! ICK! It was like that scene from "Problem Child" when a child was on a ride. I had to shower and then Carleigh needed a bath. Suffice to say that we are all sick except for Cody. I am thankful that it is hitting now and not a week from now when we will be on vacation.

I am now starting to feel better, and hopefully everyone else will be on the mend in the morning!

Yard Sale Lowdown

It has been a LONG day! I forced myself to wake up at 6am. The yard sale began at 9am and ended at 4pm although we closed a few minutes early due to the impending storm. It downpoured for about 5 minutes and drizzled a couple of other times, but then the sun came out and it became really HOT! At first, it was REALLY slow. Then I came up with a brilliant idea to have 2-3 people stand at the top of our dead-end street where there is an intersection of 3 roads and hold up bright neon pink, orange, yellow and green signs. My nephews helped and pointed and various family members took turns and it REALLY brought in the customers! I sold both toddler beds, walker/bouncer, jumperoo, bassinette, and lots of other items. We decided to have the yard sale next Saturday at Matt's sister's house. Then whatever is left will be donated to charity. The stuff is not coming back to my house!! I sold $145.00 which was great! Hopefully I will sell another $100 next week at Michelle's. All the money is going toward our expenses for our Holiday World trip in a week.

Now, I am tired, sunburned, and counting the hours down until bedtime!

Cody's Dr. Appt

Cody's doctor appointment went well. It was basically a follow up to see how his stomach and intestines were doing. I really like the doctor who saw him. My mom said that he has even checked me out when I was a child. He took his time, was very knowledgeable, went over the x-rays, gave some suggestions and was really nice. We are lowering his meds to once a day because he is miserable (he was up at 4am with stomach cramps and soiled his pjs) and I am having to change his diaper every hour. He and I will be much better off!

This evening, I have to finish pricing the rest of my stuff, put up posters, go to the grocery store and get Carleigh ready for VBS. *sigh*

A better day

Today was a much better day all the way around! Cody woke up feeling better although the medicine hadn't worked at the time. Cody drank 4 -9oz of juice and water and ate a light breakfast and lunch/supper and kept it all down! Yay! He was playing more today which was so encouraging!

Carleigh was her typical funny self. She just cracks me up with the things she says. Today, she decided to burst out in song whenever the mood hit her. She started spouting a list of people while I was dressing her. Then, she would say, "Where Jerry?" (My brother in law). First thing this morning, she asked "Where's daddy? Where's Cody?" She also went to Vacation Bible School this evening with my sister. I am sure she had a blast. If it goes well, she may go for the rest of the week.

While she was gone, I cleaned out the living room closet and found more stuff for the yard sale. Then I power cleaned the screen porch and now everything is fresh and clean. It will really help when we sit outside since I cleaned the screens and siding. I just love a clean porch!!

The medicine is starting to work on Cody. This is a huge praise! We just hope it doesn't affect him at night since he and we need our sleep!

A Trip to Urgent Care

Ok, let me tell you what has been going on with Cody. He vomitted in his sleep sometime Friday night or early Saturday morning. He had no fever and seemed perfectly fine. Then he vomitted again Saturday afternoon after being in the sun and heat. He hasn't gotten sick until today. Well, he hasn't had his regular appetite since and has been laying around with less energy which is suspicious for Cody. My mommy intuition has been up though. Well, I heard his stomach ROARING and luckily I got him to an old blanket before he spewed everywhere. Ick! It was so rank (sorry if you are eating while reading this, you should stop until afterwards!) and he had not digested anything from breakfast or lunch. (Too much info probably!)

Well, after cleaning him up, Matt took him to Children's while I kept Carleigh busy with a movie and dancing. They had a 2 hour wait and then they had to hold him down for x-rays. They found stool backed up in a ton of areas. He has been ordered to take Miralax for at least 30 days and he has to go to his pediatrician this Friday. My poor little guy! We do know that Miralax starts working quickly so I will probably be very busy tomorrow with diaper changes. Don't matter to me as long as it helps him and the pain and vomitting goes away!

Needless to stay my evening plans didn't happen and will be pushed until tomorrow evening. Nothing matters more than my Codeman! Please keep him in your prayers.

Crazy busy Times

I have been one busy lady these days! We are having a yard sale on Saturday with several family members and I have been cleaning out and pitching junk and saving the rest for the yard sale. My bedroom is almost completely filled with stuff to put in the yard sale. Last night while Carleigh spent the night with my parents, Cody and I went through the toys in his bedroom and filled two large rubbermaid tubs that will go into the sale. I also cleaned his room thoroughly as well as Carleigh's. I have one more wooden toy box to go through and our living room closet. I predict filling at least 3 more tubs.

Its a great feeling getting rid of almost everything that I have stored! I haven't used the stuff for over 4 years and I really do not need it. This will help us when we plan to move next year. We may have another yard sale on the following Saturday (July 5th) and then the rest will be donated to charity.

Carleigh had fun spending the night with my parents. She was able to watch the Noggin channel and loved it (we don't get it because we have basic cable). She also loved having mamaw and pappaw to herself! Of course, Cody LOVED being the center of attention here. It was nice just having one, so much easier for sure! However, we did miss our blonde haired, blue eyed diva!!

I plan on supercleaning the screen porch, putting more toys to the yard sale mountain, and cleaning out the last closet this evening.

Carleigh funny: Yesterday, she was holding her baby and walked over to me and said, "This is mine, not yours!" (Sidenote: I put together her doll playyard/cradle and she was putting the baby in it when she said this to me) And then she sang the ENTIRE ABC song to me twice. (I am hoping to get this on video and post it here sometime.)

Church Picnic

Our church had a picnic this afternoon. It was down due to other church activities and summer vacations going on, but everyone had fun. Cody loved the water balloon toss. Carleigh was scared to death of the water balloons. Every time that I would walk toward her with a water balloon, she would pout and run away. Silly girl! It was very warm and sunny and the water was a great way to cool off.

Songs and thoughts from Carleigh

Lately, it has been challenging for Carleigh to wind down and take her nap. Well, I sit in the room with her until she falls asleep or she will get up and play in her room. For the past week, she has been singing parts of the songs that she loves including "Five Little Monkeys Jumping On the Bed" and "Jellyman Kelly." It is so hard not to chuckle when you hear her sweet little voice start singing it and of course she omits certain words! (Right now she is singing a song and playing in her room as I type this!) Matt said that she started singing "The B-I-B-L-E" rather loudly in Walmart a couple of months ago, he he he! She is starting to witness very early!! Her latest craze is to join hands (envision the post of her dancing with her boy-friend) and dance with either Cody, Daddy or me. She loves to dance so I may have to get her in dance this fall. Her favorite dance is the Chicken Dance with the crazy Polka music. She can do the dance very well and I must applaud her preschool teacher for teaching her this and giving us the CD with all the songs on it. It does get rather old listening to it as we drive along in the van. Carleigh INSISTS (by yelling "Songs, Songs, ABC Songs Mommy!" and I finally give in and we listen to them. She has already taught Cody many of the songs and movements.

Also, ever since her pig attack, animals, loud noises, and unfamiliar things have been called "scary" and she needs to run into my lap or Matt's to be comforted. If she hears a noise, she says, "Oh, what's that noise?" and you can see her face twist into a concerned little girl. It is so cute and she keeps us all in stitches!

One little not so great thing she has discovered is how to get out the front door. At first, just locking it sufficed, then we had to put the dead-bolt on. Well, she now has mastered the deadbolt and can go out on the screen porch whenever she takes a notion. So, we are going to the hardware store and getting some sort of latch to be put up this weekend. I cannot have her escaping all the time! She is just a smart little cookie! (We locked us out of the house Tuesday night. Matt's parents, Matt and I were getting ready to head inside when Carleigh shut the door and locked the deadbolt! Luckily my mom had a key and came to our rescue. *sigh*)

Not sure what to call this...

If you haven't checked out my Xanga journal, please do so. It is linked on the right hand side under "Places I Like to Visit." I usually put more "me" stuff as I usually put alot of family stuff on this blog.

Matt's job is getting very uncertain. Today, they had a meeting first thing this morning and DELL eliminated 90% of all hired employees. Matt said it was eerie because the supervisor would take one in the office and then lead them out of the building (which has high security because of the computer industry). Matt is a temporary worker and they are keeping the temps on until they move. Apparently they are moving out of state. Which means that now Matt is actively looking for another job. He has been looking as he was just guarantee work until August when his 6 month contract was over, but now he is looking because who knows how long he will last there? We are hoping he lasts until after our mini-vacation in early July. If not, we may not be going on that vacation. I covet your prayers on his job situation.

Parky's Farm Playdate

I met up with a couple of my girlfriends at Parky's Farm today for a playdate and lunch. We looked at a variety of animals, got to pet a baby goat, Carleigh rode a horse for the first time ever, got to place on the brand new playground equipment, and walked along the pond.

We had quite the scare though. My friend Jen went into the goat's pen with Carleigh, Avery and Emma to check out the pig. Well, as the kids were trying to pet it, the pig went beserk! First it went after Jen's daughter and knocked her to the ground, then it nearly broke Jen's toe, and then it went after Carleigh. I was on the other side of the fence and was about to hike the fence when a lady we didn't know picked her up. Carleigh was screaming and had a look of absolute terror in her eyes! She was alright with just a little bit of mud on the side of her shirt. All the children were ok, but it felt like a scene from an Alfred Hitchcock movie titled "WHEN PIGS ATTACK!" Of course Carleigh became very quiet and clingy after that. All the animals became scary. We all had to take a few minutes to calm down! I cannot believe that pig was like that! The farm worker apologized and put the pig away. Yikes!

All in all, it was a fun trip and I was so proud of Cody and Carleigh. They did an excellent job of sticking with me and Carleigh was such a big helper pushing the stroller around. They are really growing up!

Codeman

Cody really enjoyed the new playground equipment and I was so proud of him for not running away and staying the same area!

First Pony Ride

Carleigh took her first ever pony ride! I really didn't think she would ride it, but Jen's daughter wouldn't ride it and so Carleigh took the plunge! She is becoming such a big girl!

Around the farm

Carleigh liked riding the rooster and driving the tractor. Carleigh and Emma had fun pumping the water!

Speech Skills

Cody is making wonderful progress in speech skills! Over the past week, he began to echo what someone is telling him. For example, yesterday, I told him that we will watch the movie later. He then replied back by saying, "movie later." I think he has realized that he can say words and likes to hear his voice. I also think Carleigh has really helped him. Her speech is outstanding and I have heard Cody repeat alot of what Carleigh has said. Lately, he has been saying "What're ya doing?" and "There you go!" He is also telling us when he wants something rather than grunting, pointing or crying. He just laughs and smiles when we give it to him (mostly food, drink, piano or Mickey).

Normalcy

I love that word! I didn't sleep well while we were gone due to storms and nosy neighbors in the hotel and I am a very light sleeper!! So, it was nice to get a good night's sleep. I woke up around 8:30 and I had to wake the kids up at 9:30am. Whoa! We are getting back to a normal summer routine. Cody has another eye-checkup this afternoon and my mom will watch Carleigh for me. Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment and then we will be finished with dr's for awhile! I am now getting ready for our yard sale in about 2 weeks. I have a LOT of baby/toddler items I am selling: crib, two toddler beds, infant car seat, toddler bed bedding, toddler ride-on toys, misc. kid clothing, adult clothing, household items, basically anything that is clutter! I think we will have a nice big yard sale with lots of family adding to it. I also will put an ad in the paper and I have already advertized it online. Hopefully I will sell most of everything and help get rid of all of the clutter.

What makes a great dad?

For Cody and Carleigh, a great dad plays with them, lets them climb on his back, puts them down in their beds for bedtime, sings silly songs with them, emphasizes the importance of Church and prayer, is a firm disciplanarian when they need it, stayed home with them for a short time and loves them like crazy! They love their Daddy so much and one of their favorite things is to snuggle with Daddy at night right before bedtime.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandpa's and uncles!!

Our Trip

On Friday, we left in a torrential downpour! This is not a good way to start a relaxing weekend! It rained off and on the entire 2 hour trip. When we safely arrived at the inn, it was a little after 9pm. We looked around and just soaked in the atmosphere.

On Saturday, we had breakfast at the restaurant located inside our hotel and they had a wonderful and fattening breakfast buffet. I ate too much food and definitely need to walk it off! We purchased tickets to ride the Nashville Express which is a motorized train (think the trains at an amusement park that takes you back to your parking space!) and our conductor was quite cheesy with his jokes but very knowledgeable about the area. The train dropped us off in the heart of the shopping area! There were over 250 different shops and art galleries there. I enjoyed shopping (although it would have been more enjoyable if I had a female there to experience it with!) and eating and of course buying things for my children and wonderful babysitters this weekend! Matt found a shop that sold sugar free candy, fudge and ice cream. He was so excited! After 4 hours of shopping, we unloaded our bags and ate lunch and had to rest before we hit the state park.

Brown County State Park is really neat and had a cool pool for visitors to enjoy although we didn't do that! We took several hiking trails, but couldn't do a lot of hiking due to the heat. We visited the nature center and saw a few snakes that Carleigh would have said were "scary!"

After the park, we did a little big more shopping and then watched the last part of the Reds game before going to dinner. I think I have gained 5 lbs on this trip. I never eat a big breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in one day and after dinner, whoa!

We arrived back home around noon with picking up Cody first. He was so glad to see us! Then we waited a little while until Aunt Connie dropped Carleigh off from church. She did very well visiting a church she had never been to before. Her church members had a fit over her and she might be going back for their VBS in a couple of weeks.

When Connie brought her to me, Carleigh was in tears. I think it finally hit her that she had missed us so much. Connie wanted to get a hug but Carleigh wouldn't let me out of her arms for Connie to hug her.

It was a fun and relaxing time and we really needed that time!! Now, we are looking forward to our next little trip in July with Matt's family.

Our charming inn

We had a great time this past weekend. The inn was very family-friendly and we kept thinking about what fun Cody and Carleigh would have had if they were there. The pool was olympic in size and was heated under a loft-like building. There was a playground with swings, slide and merry-go-round. Matt and I enjoyed the ping pong table and miniature golf course on sight was well as the tennis court and beautiful wooden patio.

Beautiful Scenery

We saw gorgeous views from the State Park. We sat at a picnic table and just marveled at the Lord's creation.

Packing

Oh, isn't packing fun eh? It is such a more enjoyable experience than unpacking I must say! We have three suitcases set up on our bedroom floor. The kids' suitcases are ready except for their bedtime lovies. I haven't packed much yet for us as I am doing laundry this morning!

Last night was our last night of VBS and although it was fun, I am glad it is over! It was alot of stimulation for my two at that time of the evening! I am looking forward to a more normal evening routine next week.

This is my last post for a few days. Be looking for pictures of our trip!

Where does the time go?

I have been up since 6:30 this morning and cannot believe it is already 2pm! Of course today was Cody and Carleigh's first OT/PT therapy session since several months and I think that helped speed up the time today. Now, I am in the middle of packing for them. I fill much better when I know that they have everything they need for their weekend away from us! Of course, my mom has a key and can always get something if needed. I have no doubt that Cody will come home VERY spoiled because Cody is the KING at my parents' house. He's the first and only boy child in my family and of course he is the center of attention!

Carleigh is excited about spending the weekend with Aunt Connie. I hope my sister takes her vitamins!! Hide those markers and pens sister! He He HE!

VBS went well and Carleigh had fun with the balloon game. It was my worst fear...balloon popping! Balloon popping is my pet peeve and it just annoys me to hear and see a balloon pop! Carleigh got scared after awhile and stood next to a wall clutching her balloon. Did we traumatize her or me???

Ramblings

I enjoy the comments that my friends leave me. If you haven't posted a comment before, please do so!

Carleigh is becoming quite the Chatty Cathy! She has gone from a few words to 3-4 word sentence girl! And she is like the Engergizer Bunny...she keeps talking and talking and talking! Her word explosion has passed on to Cody is talking so much more and is talking in two or three word sentences. Yay!

VBS Day 2 was much more smooth than Day 1! Cody decided before snacks that he would prefer the toys in the nursery and so we let him play there with his buddies from Sunday School and brought his craft home (which was the only thing he missed after he left). Carleigh was in sticker heaven because the craft was to put stickers on a cute HUGMONGOUS Volks Bug! They also played a game with little matchbox cars and was able to bring them home. But the biggest hit of the night was the popcorn that they brought home! You would think that it was gold or something! Carleigh cannot pronounce it well and calls it "Cutcorn"...and she calls sandals..."candles!" She can say everything clearly except for those two words!! She is really enjoying VBS and enjoying the preschool class. She LOVED the ice cream sundaes and fed herself and wanted more chocolate syrup and whipped cream. What a

Odds and Ends

We survived Day 1 of VBS! VBS is a new venture for Cody and Carleigh. They did well during class time, but the opening and closing assemblies were challenging as they do not like to sit down for more than 5 minutes at a time. All the children received flashlights, with a bike license plate that had the first night's Bible verse. Very cool!

Cody and Carleigh now love to eat raw baby carrots with veggie dip (Cody eats them without the dip which is healthier). For lunch, Cody pushed away the chicken so that he could get to the carrots! They also prefer sliced apples and cantaloupe as well as bananas and watermelon. I am trying to cut alot of sugar out of their diet due to the hyperactivity that follows.

I am really enjoying my summer break and could get used to this lifestyle rather quickly. I know that August will get here faster than I can blink an eye, but I am trying to slow down the time as much as possible.

Busy Week Ahead

We have Vacation Bible School all week so this will be quite the busy week for us. The theme is "Custom Garage" and it sounds like fun. Cody and Carleigh love cars so I imagine they will love VBS! This will be their first time being a part of a VBS! Matt and I are helpers in their preschool class so it should be a blast. On top of VBS, I have to pack for both kids who are going separate places as well as pack for Matt and I. Carleigh's crib will be taken down and taken to my mom and dad's so that Cody can sleep in it. (Then it is being sold as well as Cody and Carleigh's toddler beds in our yard sale in a few weeks!)

Carleigh finished the "Neighborhood" workbook today. I think she could complete one entire workbook in a day if I let her! She is so eager to learn and it is exciting to watch her learn and be apart of it.

New Pool

I filled the new pool this morning that I bought at Target (less than $10!) which is the same pool we bought last year but a whole appeared. It is amazing that 15 inches of water can be such fun! Cody and Carleigh splashed and swam for over an hour before lunch and naptime. This time, my mom came over and helped me apply 50+ SPF waterproof sunblock on both kiddos. It's also a great way to get a tan. I am hoping to have a nice tan before going to the waterpark at Holiday World in July.

Graduation!

My niece graduated from high school at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati today. Her class had 800 students! Whoa! The ceremony was almost 2.5 hours long. She graduated from the same high school that my sister and I attended. It was neat to see some of my old teachers there.

It is just amazing how quickly time flies. I remember the day that my niece was born and seeing her when she was just a few minutes old. Now she is almost 19 years old and planning for college.

Heading to Church

It was warm enough for Carleigh to wear a new dress that she received from Aunt Connie for her birthday. She LOVES to wear dresses and pose for the camera! I guess she is going to be a girly girl who likes trucks and rocks too! Cody did NOT want to pose for the camera this morning.

Nice dinner

One of the perks of being a teacher is receiving gifts from your students and parents. I received several gift certificates to restaurants and a movie theater. This is a great reason to get a babysitter and spend some quality, uninterrupted time together. Because we had a nephew's birthday party on our anniversary yesterday, we decided to use one of my gift certificates to the Olive Garden. I love Italian and boy was it nice to sit down and have adult conversation.

We decided that we need to get out at least once a month to just talk and relax. Next month, we have decided to use my movie gift certificate and get a quick bite before seeing an early movie. Matt's parents will be our monthly babysitters and Cody and Carleigh love spending time with them. Of course, next weekend will be really fun and I have been looking and planning for that weekend for months!

Tomorrow I will be heading down memory lane as I watch my 18 year old niece graduate from high school. *sob*

Ten Years Ago today....

I married my best friend. On June 6, 1998, Matt and I were married. I still cannot believe it has been 10 years! I have been looking over our wedding album and think, wow! My niece Brittany was in my wedding and she was 8 years old, now she is graduating from high school and is 18 years old. Amazing! To celebrate our 10 years together, we are taking a weekend trip without children for the very first time! We will be leaving Friday, June 13th and will arrive back Sunday afternoon of June 15th. We are staying in a really cute Inn at Brown County, Indiana. We plan on taking hikes in their beautiful state park, shopping at hundreds of shops, and eating out.

When I look back on the 10 years, I just cannot believe all the things that we have accomplished and struggled through. I graduated from Miami University after our first anniversary, I started teaching, we struggled through infertility and were childless for the first 5.5 years of our marriage, I received my Master's Degree in 2003, Matt was diagnosed with Diabetes, we began the journey of foster parenting, experiencing an adoption loss, being placed with our two blessings, becoming parents to special needs children, Matt was staying at home with our children for awhile, finalizing our children's adoptions, and Matt changing careers. Wow! All of that and much more in just 10 years. I can't imagine what will happen in the next ten years, but all the pain and heartache we experienced has dissolved away when we look at our two children. We know that the Lord is with us and will continue to be with us through anything we face.

Pictures: Click on them to see the photos larger! The first pic is Matt and I. The second pic is our wedding party group pic (notice my cute niece Britt) and the last pic is my mom and I.

Swim Mommy Swim!

Because it was in the 90s today, I set out the pool we bought. I wasn't happy with the sides (thankfully it was cheap) so I am going to get one with inflatables tonight. Anywho...the pool was a hit for my two! We went to lunch with my niece Brittany and I was hoping to get a nap in before swimtime but they saw it as we pulled into the driveway. So, we got them dressed and they were in the pool for 2 hours! I had to drag them out! Carleigh didn't want to take off her bathing suit and kept saying, "No! Swim, Mommy, Swim!" Cody was kicking and flailing his arms when I got him out. I think they are fish!! I think the waterpark at Holiday World will be a big hit for them in July.

Feeling like the Amish

Last night, our lights and cable went out before heading to church...around 6:30pm. We had VERY strong winds and tons of rain. Cody and Carleigh just stared out the windows while we were driving to church. When we arrived home, still no electricity. So I had to explore and search for our candle lighter. Once I found it (which wasn't that easy in the darkness) we had light. While lighting the candles in the kitchen away from two curious preschoolers, Carleigh broke out in "Happy Birthday Cody!" Umm....girl, that was 6 months ago!! He He HE! She links candles with birthdays only as I do not light candles when they are awake.

It was really fun trying to entertain a 3 and 4 year old without lights! Luckily they are not afraid of the dark. Cody was happily playing in his bedroom in complete darkness. Putting on pjs and changing diapers were not fun either. While I was chatting with my sister on her porch, Matt yells up the street that Carleigh locked them out of the house! Luckily, our neighbor has a key and we were saved from having to shimmy in a small kitchen window which is absolutely no fun!! We kept seeing Duke Energery trucks going up and down our streets for a couple of hours before we decided to go to bed around 11.

Boy, we felt like the Amish! I have resolved myself to making a tub filled with flashlights, candles, lighter, and a few other things just in case. My brother in law had a hand-cranked energy lantern that was I coveting, I mean wanting to buy.

Carleigh refused to sleep in her bed and was completely terrified so she slept with me. Then all of a sudden, around 12:45am, the lights came on, the clock/radio came on BLARING, the tv came to life and lights were on in all rooms!! Luckily, Carleigh was sound asleep and so was Cody even with his bedroom light on!! *Sigh* What a night!

The rest of the day

After free play, I started our little "homeschool" session in Carleigh's bedroom. She has two tables which work out great as well as an easel. Carleigh and Cody worked together (with Carleigh doing most of the work!) and completed half of the workbook! We plan on finishing it tomorrow after swim time. I was amazed at how Carleigh could identity which of the three objects were the biggest or smallest. She did better with the biggest than the smallest. She could also but the right sticker on the coordinating picture with just a centimeter off from the actual position. Carleigh wanted to have lunch at her table and they ate really well. Then it was naptime followed by a new "Wiggles" dvd. Now we are getting ready to head to church in a pending thunderstorm! Yikes!

Another Carleigh funny: She ran up to me and said "Mommy, it's scary!" So I asked her where it was, she led me to a section of the porch and I really had to look and there I found a spider that may have been 1 tiny centimeter in diameter. Boy this girl has Arachniphobia!!

First Official Day of Summer!

Today is Cody and Carleigh's first official day of summer break! Woohoo! It started off with a bang of tornado watches, severe thunderstorm warnings, and a trip to our tornado warning shelter last night. Because we were up late last night, all of us (minus Matt) slept in until 8:30am. We have had coloring time, "Sesame Street" time and now we are doing some free play before lunch and nap time. I plan on keeping a schedule which works well for my two. Tomorrow we are going swimming in our new 18 inch deep pool as the weather is calling for heat and humidity into the 90s. Gotta love the heat in Ohio!!

Conversations with Carleigh

Yesterday, we had a LOT of rain all morning and afternoon and in the evening. when it stopped raining briefly, Carleigh noticed something. She runs over to Matt and says "Daddy...a snake!" to which Matt gets up and looks on the sidewalk and sees and earthworm!! Ha Ha Ha!! We don't mind that kind of snake!

She used to LOVE bugs of all kinds, but lately, whenever she sees our toy tarantula or a plastic ladybug, she gets this scared expression on her face and runs to me and says "It's scary!"

We are trying to potty train her and whenever she says "Potty Mommy!" I run her to the bathroom. However, I think telling me this is her way of playing in the bathroom and being silly. *sigh* I WILL get her trained sometime this summer, Lord willing!

Dancing

Cody and his class sang songs for the parents and I was amazed at how well he can move!! We had to redirect him several times as he was REALLY excited that my mom and I were there!

My "Shining Star"

Ms. Ellie called each student to sit in a special chair and she told everyone one big accomplishment that she was proud of them for doing this year and also want they liked most about preschool. His teacher said that she was proud of Cody and his circle time behavior and Cody liked the Mickey Mouse piano best. One little boy said that his favorite thing about preschool was playing with Cody! Ahhhhhhhh!!

Shall we dance?

After Cody's party, I hiked over to the opposite end of the building to Carleigh's classroom. I walked inside and found Carleigh dancing with a little boy. Should I be concerned about this?????? Oh, and another little boy wanted to dance with the boy she was dancing with, but Carleigh's partner did not want to stop dancing with Carleigh and slugged his friend! Oh my...young love?!!
