Days 3-5 Summary

On Monday, we decided to go to a little seacoast town called Pentwater. It had cute little shops (that reminded me of Waynesville) and we had lunch. It has been sweatshirt weather beginning today. It has been in the upper 50s and lower 60s! Brrr! Luckily we brought sweatshirts and pants.

After our trip to Pentwater, it started to rain and we hung around the campsite for the rest of the day. We went to the game room (where I get WI FI access because MY internet/cell phone will not work because we are out in a remote area!) and hung out, played games, won prizes.

Tuesday was more eventful as we went shopping for a few necessities and then went back to the sand dunes for riding and walking on the dunes. My niece Brittany dropped my family of 4 off in the walking section of the dunes. It felt like we were being deserted in a desert. Let me just say that Cody and Carleigh had a GRAND time running free on the sand dunes! It was so much fun watching them TRY to climb steep mountains!! We definitely got an aerobic workout walking ALL THE WAY back to the parking lot! Then, Connie and Britt took us on a ride of the dunes via Clayton's mule. Cody and Carleigh LOVED the ride and of course, whenever you are out with us SOMETHING has to happen....

Well, Connie thought she could make this little steep hill in the wooded area of the dunes and got us STUCK! We got stuck two times with the first time Brittany rescued us. The second time I was almost decapitated by a tree! Brittany climbed a mountain and found Jerry & Tim (Britt's boyfriend) and they came and rescued us. Then Jerry decides he wants to take ME out on a ride of the dunes. It was fun and a little scary as he would FLY up steep dune mountains and drive along the edge of steep mountains. We had a BLAST!

Yesterday was a cloudy, dismal day so the whole gang (13 of us) went to Ludington. We went to the beach near the state park (where we SHOULD have rafted but it was too cold) and found a dead fish. Yuck!

We then went to the city beach and walked a mile out into Lake Michigan to see a light house. Then the kids played on the playground for a bit. We cooked out chicken, pork chops, corn on the cob, and cheesy potatoes for dinner. Let's not forget the smores every night and sparklers. Afterwards, we walked over to Craig's cruisers to ride go-carts and play games at the arcade. Cody and Carleigh scored on Connie's points and got a LOT of prizes.

Today, we are going to spend the last day at the beach and sand dunes and I want to visit the lighthouse near Silver Lake called Little Sable. We have had a wonderful time and will be leaving tomorrow afternoon. We then will be going through northern Indiana and visited Amish country on the way back. We won't be back home until REALLY late Friday night.

I will post pics when I get back on Saturday. If you have Facebook, I have already uploaded there.
