Santa and Snow

After an absolutely dreadful afternoon at school (parent/teacher conference), I needed to find some major distractions this weekend. The first distraction was the snow that fell this morning. Although it was a dusting, it continued to snow throughout the day and really made it more Christmas-y! We decided to take the kids to see Santa at the mall. When we first arrived, we saw a train display set up by a local group of train engineers. Of course, Carleigh was in HEAVEN! We had to pull her away, but getting a free wooden train whistle seemed to apease her for a bit. We walked around the mall looking at decorations.

We decided to take the stairs for exercise and for the stair climbing practice for the kids and they did AWESOME!! They can ascend the stairs with one foot on each step. Big progress! At the top of the stairs, much to Cody's delight, there stood a toy store. Cody saw it and cried "TOYS!" Several people looked over at his shouting. It was so cute seeing him rush to the toy store. He loves to look at toys and Carleigh enjoyed pushing a toy cart around the store. When we went down to see if Santa as there, he was and we had a short line to wait. Yay! Carleigh told Santa that she was three, but wouldn't smile for a picture. Cody hugged him and smiled away. It makes for a cute yet funny Santa pic. (I will scan it hopefully soon!)

We were hoping to go see a nativity and light display but due to the freezing temps and snow, we postponed it. Hopefully we can go soon when the temps go back up or no snow is in the forecast!!!

Well at least your mall had a Santa. Ours barely looked like Christmas at all (hmmmf!)

The temps have been pretty bitter cold here as well. Today's a bit better so we're venturing out to get our live tree. Wish us luck!
Blessings,
