The Latest...
We took Cody to Children's Urgent Care on Wednesday evening because the Speech Pathologist noticed that one of his ears had fluid in it. Well, he has a double ear infection and a respiratory infection and was put on antibiotics. The antibiotics makes him very sleepy so he tends to fall asleep while playing! For Halloween, Cody will be Murray the red Wiggle and Carleigh will be Little Red Riding Hood....aren't they the cutest???

Young's Dairy Farm Outing
Our family had a fun outing at Young's Dairy Farm in Yellow Springs yesterday. It was great meeting up with alot of Jen's Ohio group of women and families who have struggled with infertility. It was neat to see all the adoption miracles there. Although the weather was sunny, it was only in the upper 50s. Cody had a blast looking and petting the animals. We had ice cream (yes although it was freezing!), played miniature golf, rode the "Moovers and Shakers" metal barrel train ride, and chatted with friends. Cody loved driving our car during the train ride and Carleigh rang the bell in her car with her daddy. They were really well behaved and fell asleep on the hour drive back.

She DID it!!!!!
Yesterday, Carleigh decides that she wants to WALK!! She made two steps on her own. She left the couch and stood by herself and made 2 steps before dropping to the ground. Today, she did the same thing a couple of times. Later this evening while I was in my bedroom, Matt yells that Carleigh took 5-6 steps this time!! Whooohoo!! Physical therapy is really paying off! I am so proud of my girl!! She is starting to walk at 18 months!! I know we have a long way before she is walking as great as Cody, but this is quite an accomplishment for her! Way to go Carleigh!!
Also, as I was picking Cody up out of his crib from his nap this afternoon, I said "Come here, baby." Cody corrected me by saying, "boy!" I guess he doesn't want me calling him baby anymore! He understands a lot of language and commands. He is really progressing.

The most beautiful words to write down...
are Cody Matthew Schmidt! I got to write Cody Matthew Schmidt on adoption financial paperwork for the first time tonight! Words cannot express the joy in my heart right now! For over 2 years, I have waited patiently (and sometimes not so patiently) to begin to fill out our adoption finalization papers. It has been such a long journey with Cody. I have had fears and worries for almost 3 years now. But I thank the Lord that He has placed Cody into our family permanently! On September 18, the appeals court upheld our agency's decision to terminate the birthparents parental rights. If no other appeals are made, we will be finalizing Cody's adoption in 3-4 months! I am hoping for a near to Christmas or early January 2007 court date. It almost seems unreal that we are completing paperwork for his adoption and I am just so thankful for this precious, sweet special needs child that God has given Matt and I. Cody's middle name will be "Matthew" because Matthew mean "gift from God." He truly is!

Happy Fall Y'all!
On Saturday, we went with Matt's family and my mom to Barn-n-Bunk in Trenton. We were in search of perfect pumpkins for Cody and Carleigh. Cody had a blast running (and yes was he running) around the farm looking at different pumpkins and the clown that was there. It was a cool, yet beautiful late September day.
