My crazy girl!

Carleigh loves sunglasses! But, the funniest part about it is that she loves to wear them upside down. Silly girl!! I think she also likes to wear them because her big brother wears them and at times, she grabs them from him out of sheer jealousy! Here is a pic taken with the glasses in the right direction.

Update on me, I am doing a bit better. I now have a cough and a slight stuffy nose, sinus headache. No more aches!!

I am enjoying my 3 day weekend! Woohoo! I had to take a personal day due to Carleigh's 3 hour eye appointment. It sounds painful (to mommy!) as I type this! 3 hours with a toddler in a hospital....oh boy!

Mommy's turn

After getting over Cody and Carleigh's colds/stomach issues, I have now come down with a head cold, slight fever, headache, and now I am aching! I hope I am not getting the flu! This would be a great time for a snow day, but I highly doubt it will happen. And of course today was a big day in my classroom. My class presented a 15 minute presentation on ancient/modern Egypt for each class in our school. It was nice not to have to talk alot today, but the unstructured day was exhausting for all of us! I am so glad that it is over and we can focus on academics again.

We have scheduled Carleigh's many appointments that we need to take care of before she starts preschool. I will be taking her to the Ophthamlogist on Monday and dropping off her preschool registration papers at the district headquarters. I cannot believe that she will be 3 years old in less than a month and starting preschool! It just seems like yesterday when I brought her home from the hospital!

She is so funny. She will do silly things to make her big brother laugh or Matt and I. She also thinks it is funny when I blow my nose (which is happening more often right now). She absolutely loves the Wiggles right now and sings along with their songs. She has helped Cody to talk more and when Cody needs more food, she will say "More!" and point to him. She is also testing her limits and will do things to see if she can get away with them. Yes, she is in the terrible twos and it will probably continue in the 3s!!

Night at the movies

This was a first for our family. Matt's sister and her family, Matt's parents, friends Mary Ann, Trent & DJ, and our family decided to go see "Alvin & the Chipmunks" at the Danberry Cinemas. This is a discount theater that shows movies that have been out for quite awhile and costs only $3 a person. I decided to see how the kids could handle a movie. They did fairly well. Both sat nicely in the booster seats for the first 30 minutes or so. Cody got a little restless and starting standing and saying "Hi!" and kissing Aunt Michelle and Jesse who were sitting in front of us. Carleigh who didn't take a nap earlier decided she was tired and Michelle held her and she fell fast asleep. Cody decided to fall alseep during the last 5 minutes of the show.

I think the next time we take them, I am going to opt for a cartoon-like film which will hopefully hold their attention more. When the lights went out and the screen came alive, Carleigh looked over at me with her mouth open wide and said "Wow!" Then she saw a movie preview and said ratherly loudly "F-O-X." It was a fun time and hopefully we will go again in the future.

Enjoying the show!

Fun in the snow!

More snow and ice!

If you would ask me if I thought we would have 4 snow days in less than 2 months I would say no way! Well, snow began to fall around 2pm. I left school at 3:30pm and the snow was really beginning to fall. We were scheduled to have an elementary concert tonight and I was so relieved when I got the phone call that it was cancelled and will be postponed until another time. Whew! We had about 2-3 inches on the ground before the freezing rain aka sleet and ice starting coming down and it has not stopped! So, around 9:30pm I got the call that school was closed tomorrow. The funny thing is that I was scheduled for a personal day because I needed to take Carleigh to her Opthamalogist appt at Children's tomorrow. I will have to wait and see what the whether is like before I venture out with her for the exam. I will probably have to reschedule it!

I took Carleigh out to play in the snow for a few minutes and then I took Cody out. They both had a blast! It was sooo cold though! Carleigh found a toy baby bottle out in the snow!! (Don't know how it got left in the driveway!!)

When I brought Cody back in, Carleigh shouted "My turn!" She was rather upset when I came in and she didn't get another turn.

Another snow day!

Woohoo!! I really didn't think we would get this snow day, but am so thankful! We received 2 inches of snow this morning. It this would have hit earlier, we probably would have stayed on a delay. The roads should be clear by lunchtime. Snow began to fall around 3am and we had 2 inches by 7am.

Our morning was crazy though. I woke up at 4:30am when Carleigh was sleepwalking/dazed look on her face. So I put her in my bed and I went to look at the snow. No schools were closed or delayed yet. I went back to bed but couldn't fall asleep so I got up at 5am and started watching the delays. The local school district was on a 2 hour delay which means that Cody has no preschool since he is AM preschool.

Then I had a dilemma...what was I going to do with Cody and Carleigh? My mom is babysitting now but she had to stay home today to get her delivery of heating oil. Our original plan was for Matt to drop Carleigh off at Mom's for the day and my sister would watch Cody until school started. I called mom rather panicky saying that my school wasn't on a delays yet (as of 5:45am). She suggested that Matt drop off Cody and Connie could watch Carleigh. So Matt takes Cody over to moms and the roads were VERY bad at 6:30am. Then my school goes on a delay at 6:20am. Then we noticed that local school districts are changing to closing. So, I get a phone call around 7:15am saying that our school is closed! My dad brought Cody back home on his way to work around 7:30am. What a morning! The only one who got a decent night's sleep was Carleigh who slept in until 7:45am this morning!

I love snow days but I think I might need a nap when my to go down for a nap!

Date Night!

Tonight we actually went out on a date! We haven't done this in, well, ummmm...since last summer I am thinking!! Our Sunday School class had a Valentine's Day dinner at a couple's home. We had yummy pasta, salad, shrimp, appetizers, birthday cake (for 3 people celebrating a birthday) and homemade ice cream! Then we played Catchphrase and Taboo. Both games are challenging but I think Taboo is more difficult because you cannot say 4-5 words that are related to the clue. It really makes you think of alternatives to certain words. It was a nice night to just eat dinner and enjoy ourselves as a couple. We plan on doing this more!! Matt's parents babysat for us.

With much prayer and discussion, we have decided to terminate our foster care license. Right now, we need to focus on important issues in our family and the timing is not right to add another child. With that said, Matt is entering the workforce again full-time and will be working first shift. He will begin job hunting on Monday. My mom has agreed to babysit for me at my home. Thank you MOM!! We covet your prayers for us during this time of change!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Cody came home with lots of candy and valentines from his preschool party. He received a Valentine from a little girl named M. Well, I showed Cody the Valentine and asked him "Do you know M?" To which he smiled and shook his head "Yes!"

Both kiddos received valentines and candy from church last night. We have enough chocolate to last at least until Easter! *lol*

I was playing with Carleigh in her room this afternoon and we were pretending to be sleeping. She heard an airplane over our house (we live extremely close to a small airport) and exclaimed "Plane!!!" She also shouts "Choo Choo Train" when she hears a train (we live extremely close to a railroad track. We hear, planes, trains, and trucks all the time!!

Cody and Carleigh made these special Valentines in Sunday School last Sunday. They are my special Valentine blessings!

Thank you Lord!

Yes! We have a snow day! The roads are terrible more due to the ice that has fallen. I found out last night that we were closed! I saw it on the tv 30 minutes before I got the phone call. We are enjoying our snow day and this afternoon, I plan on taking the kiddos out to play and possibly build a snowman. More snow is expected tonight (nothing major) but it would be great to have another snow day!!

I'm dreaming of a snow day!

Come on snow!! We are expected to have 6 + inches plue ice tonight and into tomorrow morning. The last time the weatherman predicted snow, it was rain and a major letdown. I need a snow day in the worst way!! Let it snow! Let it snow! Let is snow!!!

To top it off, Carleigh projectile vomited last night and of course was sick today. Ick! I think she caught something in the pool at the Y. Argh! She is slowly getting better and has kept everything down this afternoon. Now I am just hoping and praying that Cody doesn't get it!! Will our house ever be rid of germs????

Swimming

We went swimming at the Y today. We met Mary Ann, Trent and D.J. there. Let's just say Carleigh LOVED it! She would push off from me and swim on her own (with a floatation device on of course!). The steps were a big hit and she wanted to jump off of them and she liked jumping off the side of the pool. Cody loved twirling in a circle in the water. They both wore big smiles the whole time.

We have had a membership for quite awhile but due to holidays, sickness and Matt's crazy job schedule, we really haven't used it much. We plan on going swimming more now that the kids can really enjoy the pool. I also plan on taking some water aerobics classes and possibly get Carleigh into the gymnastics class for her age group. I also want to take advantage of the exercise equipment and start my goal of dropping 50 lbs.

1 year ago today....

We finalized Cody's adoption! Yes, it is our first anniversary for Adoption Day! What a wonderful day that was! For Cody, it was such a long road to finalization. This time last year, we had 6-7 inches of snow on the ground and it was very cold. Cody looked absolutely handsome in his black suit with matching tie and dress shoes. I cannot believe it has been a year! Wow! Here we were one year ago!

Don't blame me!

When you look at the video below, don't blame me for the unmatching outfit that Carleigh is wearing....Matt does not know fashion and since Carleigh spilled juice on her outfit, this is what Matt decided she should wear! Ick! Also, excuse the mess on the floor. Cody and Carleigh decided to take all the sheets, blankets, comforter and pillows off Carleigh's bed.

My little daredevils!

Sitting on her throne!

She's not going to like this shot later, but I had to post this!!

Posing for a pic together!!

Cody Update

Cody is still sick! My poor little guy!! He has missed two days of preschool. This infection has really knocked him down. Most of the past 4 days he has not played or run around. For those of you who have met Cody, you would be very shocked to see him so calm!! He has been fever free but the cough and his throat has been bothering him. We are hoping he can go to preschool tomorrow. He has enjoyed watching his "Curious George" dvds and his new "Sesame Street" videos much to Matt's disappointment!! Ha Ha Ha!

Carleigh is as mischeivous as ever! I think she lives in time out!

Second trip to Urgent Care in one week!!

Yep, I feel like I live there! We took Cody to urgent care today. He started with a bad fever and vomiting on Friday. He was a different kid yesterday. After church, he wouldn't eat and was moping around. The fever came back so we took him to urgent care and watched the first quarter of the Super Bowl at the hospital. Verdict: Cody has an ear infection! I knew it before we got there, but needed a prescription to get what we needed for him. We were there for almost 3 hours! Tons of sick kids were there and the nurse was coming out, checking temps and giving meds to all those who had fevers which was nice so the kids didn't have to suffer while waiting so long to see a doctor. When we got home, he started eating and was playing. Yay!!

Now I need a day off because I didn't get anything accomplished today

Potty Training, oh boy!

We are officially training Carleigh now! Tonight, I bought her big girl undies with her favorite character Tinkerbelle! I always call her "Tink" after she was Tinkerbelle for Halloween.

My sister came over tonight and Carleigh got in her lap and really listened to what she was telling her. She told Carleigh that she can spend the night when she starts using the potty. Well, after Connie left, Carleigh pointed to the potty chair and wanted to sit down on it. So, we took everything off and she sat on the potty for at least 5 minutes. She got mad when I finally took her off so that we could get her into jammies for bed. I think she is really ready!! Yay!! I am so tired of diapers....changing diapers for 4 straight years have been exhausting and expensive! I am hoping that Cody will get interested when he see Carleigh using it.

Get one well, and the other gets sick!

Just when I thought we were over the sick bug in our house, Cody gets sick. I call home today to see how the kiddos were doing and Matt said that Cody threw up several times. And he has a fever. We ran out of tylenol so when I got home, Matt quickly went out to get some. My poor little guy! He hasn't left the couch. You KNOW Cody is sick when he doesn't play. Oh it hearts my mommy heart to see him sick. The tylenol is working and his forehead was cool to the touch a few minutes ago. We will see how he does overnight and decide if we need to take him to the dr. I think he caught something at preschool. I can't wait until summer when we all can breathe fresh air!!

I did NOT get my snow day. Waaaaaaa!!
